BOAT: THISTLE

[ You’re in a sleek, gilded reception room aboard a large and - aside from your team - empty ship. It’s full of fabulous kitchens (splattered with blood but still usable!) and ballrooms (full of instruments, all playable!) and glittering spires and stagnant-smelling but comfortable sleeping quarters. When nobody is using the intercoms to speak, a tune hums through.

Other than that, there’s thick mist surrounding everything, a path lit only by the ship’s signal light as it travels toward whatever it is you’re in search of and away from the home you can never return to. Waves crash gently against the hull, growing louder and fiercer as time goes on, and there’s faint wailing and howling in the distance…what is going on in this sea? Well, it’s not very important to you. What’s important is surviving.

When we find it, we'll definitely welcome it.

But not become one with it because that's weird.

...Freedom's not bad, but in this case it seems like it could be anything... I'd rather not be freed of the confines of this ship and dumped into the ocean, for example.

My instinct was "the truth"... But I don't know what impact that would have on things either.

I think we're, aha, "free" to come up with any answer we want. We've got no way of knowing how any of them are going to affect things.

So we might as well pick answers that resonate with us the most.

Well... The creature, or whatever it was, said it wished to teach, right? So maybe it makes sense to say we want to learn.

What is it...? Knowledge? Understanding?

I don't really want to do what the demon wants us to do.

Well, I do want to learn. I don't really have anything I want to be freed of...

It covers your desire to learn, and my desire for freedom.

...Sure. Satisfaction is something we determine for ourselves, too, so it should be harder to be skewed by some other interpretation.
