Game 2 - Rose

[A rose shaped crystal rises from the ground. You instinctively know to touch it for Death's Eye to receive your answer.

You are bound to your flock by a thin thread, making it impossible to separate, but you may still answer individually.]

[shaking her staff to ring the bell tied to it and get everyone's attention]

Okay, everyone! Time to huddle! I think we'd better discuss some stuff. Specifically, the last question. Though we can discuss the other ones too, if you'd rather answer those as a group.

Everyone deserves death, the same way that everyone deserves life, for as long as they get it. Denying someone death can be a punishment unto itself.

[He can feel the Eye staring at him.

All of Rose will suddenly see loved ones or acquaintances--if they have memory loss, then those they have gotten close to in the pasture--and they all smile at them warmly, a look of serenity and gratitude.

Just as all their throats are slit from by an unseen force. Very real blood pools at your feet.

But nothing else happens.]

I wonder if that's a good or bad sign...

They have a nice flair for the dramatic.

[But he hadn't been told he was wrong.]

True! I guess that's only to be expected, though. Things are pretty dramatic around here right now!

These questions are all incredibly loaded.

Makes sense that Death, or at least this part of Death, is mostly interested in what people think about Death.

Re: QUESTION 1

[personal profile] pleasantmisery 2023-05-27 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'm gonna have to agree with Floyd Fiend on this one. Death's, like, a natural part of life, right? And everyone dies eventually, unless they've got some kinda weird immortality thing going on.

Though, I kinda disagree with the last part of your question. I mean, yeah, the world is full of shitty things, but the answer to that isn't to just die, it's to try and make the world a better place! Even if I feel like someone should die for that, that's like, a personal judgment? It doesn't have anything to do with the natural cycle of life and death that we (except for weirdo immortals) are subject to. You know?

So, I guess that's my answer!

Already did. I'd make the same choice again and again, if it meant dying freely.

If the only other option is to be manipulated, forever under another's control, it's an easy choice.

If others find that foolish, so be it.

What is the value of life?
strateelgic: (pensive)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2023-05-27 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The value of anything is determined by every individual. There's no specific answer to that question.

Re: QUESTION 3

[personal profile] pleasantmisery 2023-05-27 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I can think of some logical reasons for why someone might do it, but I can't really see myself doing it. Mostly because I can't feel the kinds of feelings that would make people want to kill themselves. Like, despair? Straight up doesn't happen for me anymore!

Ultimately, it seems like kind of a personal decision. I don't think it's right for me to judge that, especially since I'm kind of broken, you know, emotionally.

I think you're wrong, though. It's really different from murder! Murder's when you take control of someone else's life and decide for them whether they should live or die. Suicide is...well, it's about your own life, isn't it? So, not the same thing at all.
