Your barn, and honestly some of your stuff, is just floating on clouds. You can walk on the clouds too if you want, no one's stopping you. You will not, however, be able to return to the ground, far, far below you, no matter what you do.

At least not til the Ritual is complete.

Floating among everything else is your priest, who seems to have fallen into a deep sleep, and the barn's crystal flower.

After a moment, you hear voices resonating from the crystal flower--the holy beasts, their voices and minds melded as one, call out to you.

To love is to consume, but is to be loved to be consumed--is that what love means?

No? Not um, not exactly.

Can feel like that. Loving someone can be gnawing feeling. Sometimes it’s a hungry feeling where you want something from them or want them or want to get things for them. Aren’t satisfied until you have them right there with you.

Might take real things from them too. Time, attention, effort. Maybe bite them for real. But when you put it like… to consume versus being consumed? It can’t go too far like that. You don’t get to take them away and hoard them for yourself and you shouldn’t sacrifice all of yourself up to someone either. Love shouldn’t be destroying parts of each other.

What you consume makes you happier and stronger, but you share that back. Give them comfort and support. Are sharing with each other. Is like how Biscuit put it: is sharing and growing and consuming and growing and sharing.

So I guess… If loving is consuming, then being loved is to be consumed but only if you’re both doing both parts. Don’t be a predator that takes and takes, or prey that gives and gives and gives. Be a partnership.

Is there a difference between herbivore and carnivore to you? Where does Daffodil fall and why?

There is a difference between 'em but ya need both of 'em in the world. They rely on each other and can't exist without each other. Ya gotta have the right balances.

Daffodil are carnivores. We're predators. I dunno how t'explain WHY. We just ARE. Sometimes ya just are something. Ya can think and think on it but at the end of the day yer yerself and do the things that fit ya and the shape of yer life.

We're predators cuz we're predators. And that's all we know how t'be. And we ain't ashamed or sorry about it.

But we need alla those herbivores around too.
