Rituals like this really make it obvious, don't they. This is how it's like where I'm from, too.
I think there's a kind of honesty in not pretending your actions are justified or fair, or that you care about the people you're hurting. To not pretend that there's such a thing as "good" or "bad" people. We're all just doing what we're gonna do anyway, huh.
